WOW! I must thank all of the vendors, customers, and family and friends for an A-mazing holiday season! Between the loyal customers who came in to support all the handmade vendors or place custom orders, to the many new faces that stumbled upon us and discovered a great new place to buy gifts, the shop was abuzz with activity and it felt like we couldn't make things fast enough! Lots of people came from hours away after shopping with us at shows, and many of our loyal Facebook likers came in for special in-store events like a customer appreciation holiday party complete with delicious handbaked goodies from Pip and Bits or other promotions exclusively for them!
Stay tuned---we have lots of great new handmade vendors on board, new displays & new events coming before Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's/Father's Day & more! I am working hard right now to restock and to bring more great unique handmade items to you as soon as possible!

I am sooo thankful for all the great customers, vendors, family & friends that have helped make the shop such a unique and fun place to shop handmade this year so far! In order to thank everyone, we will be having a Promo Event going on Saturday, Dec 10th during regular shop hours (11-6) for anyone shopping this day (details TBA- but think "free item with purchase", raffles, & other offers) AND a Holiday Party for our loyal customers/vendors/friends from 4-8 PM featuring tasty hand-baked goodies made by Pip and Bits' Laura D'Abate, along with beverages!

Handmade Holidays!

Wow! The handmade shop has picked up momentum, business and vendors as Fall has come and gone and the Holidays are here! Thanks so much to everyone who has supported us all along and to all the new people we have met! I, myself am busier than ever with interesting custom orders, and we have also been doing some great familiar shows like Twist Fair in Northampton, MA and some new shows this year like Concord Winter Giftopolis on Dec 2nd and 3rd during Midnight Merriment! We are also having fun in-store events like our 2011 Ornament Reveal Promo where Cadence Innovative Designs 2011 Ornament Collection will debut and customers will receive a free mini-ornament from the collection with ever $30 or more purchase! (Facebook likers will be receiving even greater promos and discounts, so be sure to like our page HERE). On December 10th, we will be having a Customer Appreciation/VIP Shoppers Holiday Party and event from 11-8 with lots of promos & sales (to be announced-stay tuned!) food, drinks, & more to celebrate our loyal customers and vendors who have made the shop what it has become~ Again, stay tuned here and to our Facebook page for the latest updates & details!

Well, the shop has been in full swing for a few months now, and we have lots of different exciting vendors and products to offer! I am changing the store around constantly and am about to expand a bit into my studio area to make room for even more new handmade products from local artisans and around the country! The "new area" of the shop should be ready by the weekend, but for now, here are some more pictures of the shop. NEW! Handmade Studio & Shop in Peterborough, NH!

Finally time to announce on here that I have opened a NEW Bricks-and-mortar Handmade Studio and Shop right in downtown Peterborough, NH. It is still a work in progress, but is a little shop and workspace where I can make things, have custom order and private appointments, and where I am selling handmade pieces by me and other fellow artisans! Peterborough has so many wonderful galleries and shops already, but I wanted to be able to offer some things of mine and some things by others (mostly from New England) who's work isn't already represented here. It is located right at 43 Grove St. inside the Grove Village Shops with Ava Marie's Handmade Chocolates and Ice Cream, and other fun little shops and offices. I love that I can easily walk to the post office, the park, little restaurants and shops, and even home! As many know, I spent many years managing retail shops designing displays and visual merchandising, along with teaching classes before starting this business, so this venture will hopefully encompass all of my interests in a challenging and fun new way.
I will still be doing some shows, including Twist Fair VI in Northampton, MA on May 6th and 7th and Concord Arts Market, Concord, NH in June, and of course will be selling in stores across the US and in my Etsy shop. Since so much of my business is in custom work, this location will allow for me to meet with customers to go through vintage and antique maps, select the perfect button for a custom-sized ring, or even work on more elaborate art pieces that my previous work spaces have not. Hours are varying until May, so keep up with changes and updates on my Facebook page!
This is an exciting new venture which I hope brings more options for people in creating custom works, more exposure for creative handmade artisans I know, and a better work/life balance for me! Stay tuned for the various steps in the process. Until then, here are a few pics to tide you over!

New Year, New News!

"New news!"? Okay, admittedly, that was a little corny! Anyway, it's always hectic, I find, this time of year, for people in the "handmade world". You're in the tiny window between holiday insanity and needing to come up with new product line, decide which, if any, shows you're applying to, and overall just deciding what direction you want to go in with your business. I mean, for some heavily competitive shows, it's literally a two-week window! I have no idea how some people do it, and do it so well.
I have definitely wrangled with what I want to focus on for new product this year, and getting it all presentable in that time frame would be impossible for me this year. I am never a fan of being categorized, though I understand the need for it in markets and shows, and so I am always a little frustrated with properly trying to get myself across! That said, I have already come up with quite a few new things (none photo-ready yet) and I think this year will again be a transition to a new format for my business.
February is already such a crazy month! I have crammed several medical "happenings" in to this month, which are limiting my production a bit, but are getting them out of the way and allowing me some planning time for big things to come! I can't reveal them quite yet, but stay tuned for it and soon-to-be-announced other shows, markets, events and new products!
I've also created a new Facebook Profile for Cadence Innovative-Designs, since the fan page does not allow for people to send messages or for me to be notified when people comment on old pictures and posts! Be sure to "friend" me there if you want to be able to ask questions and communicate!

Holiday is here!

Black Friday has come and gone, now it's Cyber Monday (or Cyber Week, as I'm calling it) and shoppers are ready to see what we have to offer! I'm in the midst of a busy and varied show schedule and have a few now under my belt! Twist Fair V was great! Lots of familiar and new customers and great vendors and atmosphere kept the event up there as one of my favorite shows to do!! I also have done other shows, including my first time at Monadnock Music Christmas Fair this past holiday weekend right in town! Great people and vendors, as well as the added bonus of being mere minutes from my house! I could get used to this!!
Next up is a really unique and fun event- I'm doing a Trunk Show at my lovely friend, Dana's new Vintage Shop, Concetta's Closet in Newmarket, NH Saturday December 4th. Unlike most Trunk Shows, for the first time ever I will be making custom button rings on the spot for your enjoyment or for special, unique gift-giving needs! I will also be bringing more items than are normally carried in her shop, including Christmas Ornaments (that are only available at shows or events this year and are selling out faster than I can make them) and also more bangles, clocks, and earrings. Items will be made on a first come, first served basis and can be made while you shop her amazing high end vintage selection. This event has gotten lots of press so RSVP on Facebook so we know to be prepared!
Then, I will be moving onto my final show of the year, Holly Fair in Cambridge, MA on December 11th & 12th. It is a two-day event right in Harvard Square and was a great time last year. There is lots of variety in vendors and a beautiful place to shop in the surrounding area as well! Unfortunately, I had to end the show season a little early for health reasons, but may be listing some of the remainder online and am always open to requests for some last minute home shopping parties or possibly event private shopping appointments!

Gearing up for Holiday Shows!

So busy getting ready for show season that I haven't had time to post at all! Must get ready for a full show schedule in November and December, including shows in several Massachusetts and New Hampshire locations so far. I have been making ornaments since the beginning of October and also stocking bangles, clocks, vintage charm necklaces, etc... Also, I am busy getting stock together for the retail locations I sell in--including MADE in Jackson Hole Wyoming, Fisherman's Daughter in Chatham, MA (cape cod), and the NEW Concetta's Closet fine vintage store in Newmarket, NH (see pic above), where she will be selling my purely vintage items like vintage button rings and vintage charm necklaces, earrings, and bangles! So much to do, and so few elves to help out! Check out list of events and complete list of where to buy in the right hand column of the blog or on my Facebook Page under info tab!

Ready or not....

....It's show season! Even though I am cutting down on the amount of shows I'm doing this year, there are still plenty of great ones coming up that I will be at. I just finished doing Twist IV in Northampton, MA and, as always it was a great show! Thanks to everyone who came and to the organizers and sponsors. (I forgot my camera, among other things, so no pictures from me this time). This week starts the first time I'm doing the Peterborough Farmers' Market, right downtown in Depot Square from 3-6 PM every Wednesday through October. I am excited to be part of it, as I have shopped there nearly weekly since I've lived there, but have never been a part of it yet! After that, I will be doing some dates at Concord Arts Market, in Concord, NH, beginning June 5th from 9-3 in Eagle Square Downtown Concord is a great place to spend the day, and even more so with the Arts Market! I will be doing dates throughout the summer and fall. June 12th I'll be off to Hampshire College's 40th Anniversary Celebration Marketplace, and spending the weekend reliving the good ol' days with my friend. The Marketplace is Saturday only, from 11-5.

Spring Cleaning

As I plot new events and products for Spring/Summer, I am doing some virtual "spring cleaning" in regards to events and products. I really have had a grueling schedule the past few years trying to get my business out there, trudging through multiple health issues, taking time away from my personal life and depending on family and friends for help. Now that I have experienced many different shows and experiences, I am more able to narrow the scope to things that work for me, my customers and my business at this time! I am planning on doing a variety of shows, from markets, to indie craft shows, to home parties, and also special events and celebrations! I will give first preference to more local shows, as I felt I wasn't focusing enough on this in the past, along with shows that are really trying to help the community around them! I love to travel though, so, expect a variety of shows in the Northeast that are unique in theme or purpose. I also have a few very favorite shows that I cannot support enough, and therefore, will be partaking in some of those as I do yearly! This applies to new stores as well, and I will be expanding to new markets where I feel the message of buying local, eco-friendly, and handmade are the number one priority!
I also plan on working on new products that allow me to expand my creativity and market. I want to do more "art" in mediums I have explored in the past, such as collage and sculpture, and incorporate them into useful objects, giving them a dual purpose (like the clocks). I continue to welcome custom orders and have no problem making some of your old favorites upon request! Thanks to all of my customers, shop owners, and everyone else who supports me for allowing me to create and be happy doing what I do!

I am in Pre-Spring cleaning mode and since the Holidays have ended and new projects and endeavors are coming for the year, I decided to relaunch my Etsy Supply Shop, www.cadencesupplies.etsy.com ! I started it last year when I was about to move, thinking it would make packing easier, and it was really successful, so, here we are again. Look for the obvious jewelry making destash along with other art and craft supplies. I have extras of lots of things, so feel free to contact me if you're looking for something specific.

Happy New Year and a big Thanks to everyone who supported/helped/blogged/featured myself or my business this past year! SO much went on this year that could've really caused my business to come to a halt- but because of people's interest and support, we pulled through!
This year, we will be focusing even more on being local and supporting other local artisans and businesses, trying out new and positive shows and endeavors, and focusing on the art and the artist! Twist III

Still recovering from the awesome event that was Twist III! This event just seems to be getting better and better! I had my same location next to the DJ and the drinks, so all was well in that department! The new VIP reception from 4-6 on Friday brought in some rabid indie design fans who all got their free swag bag, some yummy treats, and first dibs on their favorite handmade items! From 6-9 the place was hopping and pretty much wall-to-wall customers! My Ornaments made from old books and maps- including Where the Wild Things are, Alice In Wonderland, and local/international maps- were flying out and I was really afraid I would have to drive the hour plus home and whip out some more before the long day Saturday( I, unfortunately, was too tired to accomplish this!). I also got to reconnect with another one of my best friends growing up, and meet some really wonderful new customers and gallery owners. I also love that customers from past Twist Shows seem to love coming back to tell me how much someone liked something they bought from me, or else love to wear things they bought from me and show me that they are still wearing and loving the items! The other vendors are equally as friendly at this show, and I made some amazing purchases and trades! I got a really wonderful piece of ceramic work by Rachel Garceau (www.rachelkgarceau.blogspot.com), traded with my super nice neighbor, Heather of bright lights little city (www.brightlights-littlecity.com) for some great origami star making kits and later bought a great necklace made of sequins too! My sister, who was helping me, bought some prints from Nate Duval (www.nateduval.com). I own several of his as well!

Saturday was a rainy day, but people still came out, and even came back to get more. One customer even told me she had come the night before and wanted things from a variety of vendors but was undecided. She went to bed and dreamed about all of the items, so decided that that was a sign and came back Saturday! Vendors had wonderful breakfast and lunch provided again, as well as FREE massages in the Vendor Lounge! The day was busy and went by quickly, and before you knew it we were all packing up, saying goodbye, and looking forward to the next Twist! Thanks to the great organizers, vendors, and customers!

Twist Fair III !

Next on the agenda is Twist Fair III! Again, it takes place in lovely Northampton, MA at the Center for the Arts Ballroom on November 13th from 6-9 PM (VIP reception from 5-6) & Saturday the 14th from 10 AM- 6PM. I have done this show several times before and am excited to have it at the perfect time for holiday shopping! I love seeing old friends and family who come out for the show and have tons of memories and inspiration that came from living in that area! I am also selling items all the way until the end of December at the Twist Shop in Thorne's Marketplace in Northampton as well. It's a great place to shop before and after the event has happened and has a selection from past and present vendors! More to come after the event!

Market of the Living Dead!

Sunday was the last day of the season of SoWa Open Market in Boston and also the Halloween themed, "Market of the Living Dead"! There was Pumpkin and fruit carving, vendor and customer costume contests and lots of spooky decorations and goodies being distributed! I decided to paint Munch's famous painting, The Scream, for my costume. Of course, I decided this Saturday afternoon, when there was no time for a long drive to a chain store from where I live to get supplies. I , therefore, had to scrounge around the art room! I found a frame lying around that I got once from a "FREE" table at a flea market and took out a piece of foamcore from the cellar and some mostly dried out and separated acrylic paints and some old brushes from when I worked at a craft store and went to work. Of course, I had to scale the head much larger than in the original and also, the frame was a little small for the scale, but it came out decent, in my opinion. I then cut out the head portion so my face could peek through. We were also putting the last minute touches on my sister's "Bjork at the Oscars Swan Dress" costume that was hand sewed Saturday as well.
I neglected to anticipate 2 very important things things that happened Sunday at the show. Firstly, I had to hold up my Frame the whole time, which not only got quite tiring, but it had to be set down each time I was completing a sale. Secondly, I remembered why I do not love wearing interesting costumes to events. My sister and I literally were stopped by every person we walked by or who came to our tent for pictures- foreign tourists, art students, random weirdos- and asked to pose for pictures on their cameras or cell phones. People also expected me to maintain the constant pose of the scream (for 9 hours) and were saying things like, "you cant smile, you're "The Scream".
I was left very thankful that I wasn't wearing a tactile costume. Let's just say I spent Halloween and my 25th Birthday in New York City wearing an extremely accurate Grumpy Care Bear Costume- made by my lovely friend, Laura, which was furry and soft and eventually touched by literally everyone I came in contact with. (Many more than I came in contact with Sunday, to say the least). You do not want to be on the Subway in a furry costume on Halloween.

Holiday ornaments on a snowy October Day

It would seem really odd to me to be making my decoupaged ornaments for the Holidays when it isn't even Halloween yet (almost sacrilegious, as my birthday is Halloween)- BUT, it is SNOWing today!!!
Anyway, I am making up a bunch of new ornaments for shops and holiday shows. Some of the themes I'm doing this year are--more Maps of Boston/Cambridge, New York, Chicago, London Underground, & Paris; Vintage Christmas Sheet Music, Vintage Wrapping Paper, Classy Damask Prints & some lovely Japanese Chiyogami Papers, Vintage Pin-Up Girls and some of my favorite books!! Custom orders and sets will also be available. These are decoupaged over Papier Mache, so they are lightweight, easy to ship, and wont break around kiddos or animals!! Plus, they are eco-friendly repurposed papers that are heavily sealed to be more than just a one year novelty!

Just finished up a huge batch of NEW Fall Bangle designs. Of course, many of the popular designs are still here-(Maps, Vintage Sheet Music, Kitschy Ephemera) but they are never exactly the same!! There are new bangles shapes and sizes, more of my original artwork, and just entirely new ideas! All Bangles are now handmade by myself or another artisan right here in New England!! Gourmet Chocolate & Shopping!

Mark your calendars & come indulge-

I've been invited to sell my wares at The Langham, Boston's infamous Chocolate Bar on Saturday October 3rd! This is their 21st season, and their theme this year is "Boston's Chocolate Trail". It seems like it'll be fun adventure for your taste buds as you "explore Boston's favorite neighborhoods"! Of course, it wasn't hard to convince me to participate in this event! I have heard and read so much about it in the Press, but have never experienced it myself. As part of "Chocolate Trail", they have invited an artisan each month to represent the South End and it's many studios, and of course, the South End "SoWa" Open Market. Many neighborhoods are being represented, including desserts from Chinatown, the North End, Faneuil Hall, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the South End, and Fenway Park.
"The Bar" runs from 11 AM- 3 Pm, and reservations are accepted at 11, 11:30, 1,& 1:30 PM. All ages are welcome- Adults $38, Children 12 & under, $25, 4 & under FREE!

What a great treat for a beautiful Fall day in Boston! I can't imagine anything better than Chocolate & Shopping in Boston in Fall!

I was so fortunate to be featured in an article on June 25th in The Boston Globe & Boston.com in the Style Magazine in an article called "Gifts to make you the life of the Wedding Party"- http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/weddings/gallery/25savedate/

It featured unique gifts to give the people in your wedding party for all they've done to help, that are a bit more unique than the traditional choices. As I have actually made many sets of wedding party gifts in the past, it seemed especially fitting! I loved hearing stories from many new customers about who the necklaces would be for, and how they heard about them! I had quite the time catching up on orders and getting everything together- as each was custom made and not just something I had in stock!

My camera, once lost in my move- is now found, and the crazy event schedule is in full swing! I have been a having a great time at SoWa Sundays/ SoWa Open Market in Boston
(http://www.southendopenmarket.com/) and Providence Open Market in Lippitt Park in East Providence on Saturdays (http://www.providenceopenmarket.com/) ! So far, the weather has been great, the turnout has been great, and the vendors are great! I must admit, it is very hard for one not to spend all of their daily profits at all of the other vendor booths! From amazing food, produce, and of course handmade fashions and Art of all kinds- you are going to leave with something! Also, I've been enjoying seeing shoppers coming back multiple times to both shows, receiving custom order requests, and debuting some new clocks for sale!

Come down and see a show! It's the best way to see new things debut as I make them and get first picks!

Ahh, life! In case I haven't whined loud enough, I am moving (yay), starting shows (yay), getting ready for a fun family reunion (yay), and trying to deal with all of my "mystery diagnoses" all in a one month span!!! I do not always fully appreciate the wisdom in "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger", but i feel it must be true!

Twist Fair 2.0 was very fun, (as expected) and I loved seeing customers from last year modeling some of my old creations! How nice of them to wear them back to show me! I also saw lots of old friends who I hadn't seen in years from high school, college, and coworkers- which I completely appreciate guys! I also got to spend the weekend with one of my best friends who helped me at the show and we had a great time reliving some of our college days in the area and enjoying the lovely Hotel Northampton! Bought some great items as well! I didn't take as many pictures as I would've liked, but I guess I was having too good of a time! It was also Pride Weekend in Northampton, so there was a parade and a generally fun atmosphere around! Some circus mimes entertained us and even bought a flapper ring, so I was glad to find out that my jewelry was "mime-approved"! Thanks to Cory and Lexie Barnes and all of the sponsors, again,as they really know how to put on a great show!

Next, I am in insanely busy mode trying to pack for a much needed move and make things and update displays for Opening Weekend at SoWa Open Market in Boston on May 16th & 17th! If you are ever in the area, you really need to check out this show! It has so much to offer in the way of talented Artists, Artisans, and NEW for this year, Antiques! It has FREE Parking & Admission, and I have met so many awesome loyal customers and fellow vendors who have become friends. It is also very well run and a great event for the whole family! So, I had been giving out CID logo eco-friendly shopping totes (designed by my friend, Brian) this past fall for special events with $50 or more purchases, and have had such a good response with it, that I have developed a new promotion for Spring/Summer Shows and beyond!

I spent today, as I do many, wading through the insane amount of art/craft supplies and displays that inhabit my "art room". I decided that once and for all, I needed to open a supply shop on etsy--as I have a treasure trove of items that I will very likely not be able to use myself in the forseeable future! I have accumulated these from past jobs designing displays and teaching classes for a National Art & Craft Supply Store (discounts make it hard not to buy everything) and some displays from both my jewelry design career and from retail stores where I was a manager! Anyway, it will take awhile for me to sort out, but check it often for a whole range of things from beads, findings, wire, display cases, art supplies, etc. Let me know if you're looking for anything particular!

Spring Show Schedule!!

Lots of upcoming shows to tell you all about! Even though I always have next few months shows listed on the side of this blog, I like to tell you a little bit more about them!

March and April will be mainly for designing and creating for the weekly shows coming up. I attended a snowy Design Hive Market in Cambridge, MA on March 1st, which was going on simultaneously with a great clothing swap! Unfortunately, after several days of warmer weather, we got another lovely New England snowstorm, which seemed to keep the crowds down from the normal Design Hive turnout. Anyway, the participants all had a great time anyway seeing each other's newest creations, and getting back into the swing of things with the show circuit! There were some great people excited to participate in the clothing swap, and clean out their closets, but also add a few new treasures--yay for reusing/recycling/repurposing!

Just added--March 21st I will be @ Holy Craft! Fair. Holy Craft! Is a DIY craft flea market where vendors sell a variety of goods including handmade crafts and apparel, vintage clothing, records, baked treats, antiques and much, much more! All proceeds including table fees are being directly donated to AFSC MAP which provides the homeless, domestic violence survivors, the previously incarcerated, immigrants and others in need in the Greater Boston area with material goods such as clothing and housewares, resource management and job training. For the rest of the month, I plan on completing more of the newer designs I've been creating, hopefully sprucing up websites, blogspots, shops, etc...along with some more medical things.

April, so far, seems to be also more for revamping displays, new designs, and getting ready for the craziness of schedule for May and beyond!! (Hopefully, some nicer weather, too!) I will be appearing at Design Hive Market again, on Sunday April 5th, so by then I should have even more new things completed! I think that is the only show I will be doing in April, in order to prepare for May shows.....

Speaking of MAY, there are lots of great shows I am doing then! Starting off the month (May 1st & 2nd) is Twist Fair, a 2 day show that is really a unique experience. It is held in the Northampton, MA Center for the Arts Ballroom, which has beautiful architecture and character all on its own! The show starts off with a Market Party Friday night from 5-9, where vendors and shoppers alike are treated to a live DJ, a variety of beverages (yes, even adult beverages), and lots of great artisans! (http://www.twistfair.com/) Then, Saturday, beginning @ 10 AM, it reopens and once again you get to enjoy this truly unique shopping experience all day! Next, I'll be @ Opening Weekend (May 16th & 17th) for SoWa/South End Open Market, Boston, MA! It's a great outdoor setting with a ton of Boston and vicinty's wonderful artisans along with fresh produce from area farms, local baked goods, and much more! Parking and admission are FREE, and this year, there is also an Antiques Market, where I know I will likely spend a good portion of my profits!!! I will also be here nearly every Sunday all the way through the end of October!!(http://www.sowaopenmarket.com/). May also brings another new experience, as I will also be attending the Providence Open Market, in Lippitt Park, on the East Side on their Opening Day, Saturday, May 23rd! It will also have art, healthy edibles, handbags, jewelry, accessories and much more. Hopefully, I will be able to do more shows there in the Fall, schedule permitting!

Hi! I have always done contests for myspace friends, and I realized I had never done one for Facebook! I decided to create one based upon recruiting people to be fans of my product page (not to be confused with the cadence innovative designs group--though feel free to join that as well!!).. All you have to do is become a fan, then get other people to become fans and post on the wall that (your name here) recruited them! Make sure they do that part, as otherwise it will not count (i.e.- I will not know if they were referred at all or who referred them). Being a fan of the page has its own rewards, as you often will see pics of new items right after being made (pre-etsy store) and find out about events and shows I'll be attending by a direct invite!!

First Spring Shows

I have just finalized shows I will be doing for March and April. I will be back at Design Hive in Cambridge on March 1st and April 5th!! If you havent been to Designs Hive yet, here is a blurb from their site:

...you never know what happens to it!!
It is soooo wonderful when you create things that you like and you see someone actually using it! I am pretty sure that's what gets a lot of artisans up in the morning. This excitement is especially true for me when people are selecting gifts---you hope the recipient is actually excited to get the item that this person has so thoughfully selected for them! Often, we never find out if the recipient is pleased, or if it sat in a drawer hidden and unloved. I LOVE when people who geographically wouldn't likely see me in person at a show are nice enough to let me (and sometimes the world) know that they did, in fact, like what they got!!

Phew!! This crazy holiday season is over! (Although I am feeling very confused to have had a Saturday and Sunday off!) From crazy weather and power outages, to life-changing medical issues, to a ridiculous show schedule---I am wiped out!!
Thanks to everyone who went out to the great shows I participated in all of Novemeber and December! You helped keep small, local businesses thriving, and liked getting handmade, intimate, personal gifts for those you loved!! The shows in Cambridge (Designs Hive) and Boston (Prudential Artisan Market) were wonderful experiences, with lots of great vendors to meet and run by great people!!! Customers came out in bad weather, when they could've just gone to the mall--and we appreciate that! I loved meeting people from all over the world, and felt priviledged to make some personalized custom orders for people to give as gifts!
Now, it is time for a revamp and some new products, new displays, even new websites--so stay tuned!!! The New Year is here and it is not called "Cadence INNOVATIVE Designs" for nothing!! Please join me October 5th from 10-5 @ Baked Fresh, an indie art, music and design festival that will take over the South End Open Market, with live music starting at noon. The event's goal is to celebrate all of the great ventures young Bostonians are creating, from entrepreneurial endeavors to creative works. Live music from local bands will be playing on the stage all day, creating a festival atmosphere all day long!

Twistfair 2008!!

I totally loved being a vendor at Twistfair-Friday & Saturday Sept 5th & 6th in my very favorite Northampton, MA. Firstly--Northampton is a place I have spent so much time in my life and probably has had a huge influence on who I am today! ( I grew up in Western MA) Secondly, this was the first Twistfair (hopefully of many) and it was so well run, well advertised, and in a fun and amazing atmosphere for meeting other artists, crafters, artisans, and patrons who were very excited to get in and browse and shop! There were lines to get into this place!! It was in the beautiful center for the arts ballroom, had a live dj, great Paper City Brewery beer on tap and Vitamin Water Flavors galore--along with catered meals for vendors thanks to great local restaurants & sponsors like Etsy, Craft Magazine, and local shops like WEBS and Dandie in the Underworld!! The organizers, Lexie & Cory Barnes, along with all the promoters and volunteers should be very proud of how the event turned out! I am very appreciative of all the effort put into making it a success! Definitely NOT your average craft fair--since you may or may not know how fond I am of those!
Also, a big Thank You to Ben & Brian for helping me "man" my table!!!--check out pics in my albums--and go shop or participate next year!!!

Crazy Summer Event Schedule!!

Despite the crazy summer thunderstorms and rain we've been having in the Northeast, all of the summer markets I've been doing have going great!! I have met so many great people, shop owners, and other artisans at both the South End Open Market in Boston and The Berkshire Open Market in Lenox, MA. I can barely keep the Decoupaged Bangles in stock, and I have begun to make custom typewriter key items right on the spot to keep up with demand!!! Please come visit if you can!!!

4th of July on the Green Craft Festival--Lebanon, NH

I had the BEST time @ the 4th of July Craft Festival on the Green in Lebanon, NH!! Firstly, it was located on the beautiful town green, complete with live music, a fountain, various food vendors, a dunking booth, and wonderful local residents and their pets !! The organization of the event was simple and as good, if not better, than promised--a rarity in the craft fair world!!! A small gathering of great local crafters displayed their wares while various live music played, a horse drawn carriage took groups around the green, and everyone mingled and ate and had a great time! Towards darkness, the excitement picked up, along with the crowd, and we met some of the nicest people ever! Towards the end of the fair, everyone was called to watch a great fireworks display!! All in all, it was an experience I highly recommend for other crafters, and just for families and people looking for a great place to celebrate the 4th!!! Also, a big shout-out to mother nature for the PERFECT day!!!

Although I have known about Plumberry Lane and their great products for awhile now, I was still pleasantly surprised at what great products they are in person !! I was recently in need of a birthday gift, and had seen that Stacy, Owner of Plumberry Lane, had been creating custom Gift Baskets in the price range of your choice!! I was able to give her a price range, likes/ dislikes of the recipient, and very quickly received an assortment of wonderful, handmade locally, soaps and bath products with a real sense of whimsy and creativity!
